In the News: Peterborough Prepares to Host the 2026 Great Canadian Cheese Festival
The countdown to June is officially on! We are thrilled to share that kawarthaNOW has recently spotlighted the Great Canadian Cheese Festival as it prepares for its exciting move to the historic Morrow Building in Peterborough this summer
As Canada’s largest celebration of artisan cheese, the festival’s transition to the heart of the Kawarthas marks a new chapter in our mission to connect local makers with the community.
“It’s a great fit for our city… highlighting Ontario products, small businesses, and celebrating the way that food brings people together.” — Peterborough City Councillors Lesley Parnell and Alex Bierk
A Legacy of Flavor
Following the incredible response to our return last year at Fort Henry, our executive team—led by Patricia McDermott—has been hard at work expanding the experience. We are bringing together over 100 dairy producers and food artisans, from master cheesemakers to craft breweries and small-batch bakers.
What to Watch For in 2026
The kawarthaNOW feature highlights what makes this event a ‘must-visit’ on the Ontario culinary calendar:
- The Marketplace: Unlimited sampling and discovery of Canada’s most prestigious cheeses.
- Tutored Tastings: Our signature intimate pairing sessions (which Patricia notes ‘sell out every year!’).
- A New Venue: The historic Morrow Building provides a vibrant, accessible setting for our two-day celebration.
At PEC Markets, we are proud to foster spaces where craftsmanship is celebrated. Whether you are a returning fan or joining us for the first time in Peterborough, we look forward to sharing this delicious journey with you.
Warmly,
Rosalind
